Manchester United and Newcastle United will have to pay €120 million to snatch Goncalo Ramos from the grasp of Benfica.

As per Sport Witness, Goncalo Ramos could cost €120 million as Benfica are unwilling to let the player leave for a lower amount with both Manchester United and Newcastle United being his suitors.

Manchester United are vying for a striker to arrive to fill in the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese stalwart’s contract was terminated by the Red Devils on mutual consent and he has become a free agent.

Despite his downward form, the 37-year-old remains a threat and it would take a huge effort to replace his goals. Ramos’s hat-trick against Switzerland in the round of 16 made him a man in demand, and Manchester United will shift their attention if they are unable to search for a proper striker who could fit their system.

Having graduated through Benfica’s youth system the forward has burst onto the scene this season and his goalscoring skills have already alerted a plethora of interested parties as Newcastle United are also eyeing a move for the youngster.

Eddie Howe had his wish fulfilled as Alexander Isak arrived at the club this summer but the manager feels he still has some work to do and a new forward might help him steer the team in the right direction. Their new owner does have all the resources to fund such kinds of transfers and they will surely be in the hunt.

If Ramos maintains his form, Benfica would have a strong standpoint to negotiate a high price for their prized asset. But if Ramos pushes for a possible departure the club might be forced to lower their asking price.

Given his tender age and long-term viability, Manchester United could be assured of some much-needed gain in long term as the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony have already formed one of the most exciting attacking lineups in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have failed to convert chances into goals and Ramos could resolve that problem. The Manchester giants should initiate a discussion with Benfica if they are really interested in availing his services next summer.

A few instalments and a number of achievable add-ons could tempt the club to make some big bucks but United are expected to face some stiff competition from a host of clubs. Benfica won’t be interested in selling the player in the midst of a season and a transfer the next summer seems to be more likely.
