Celta Vigo will demand €40 million to part ways with 20-year-old highly-rated Spanish midfielder Gabri Veiga, a target for Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Gabri Veiga is a possible target for Real Madrid. And the reigning La Liga champions have learned the asking price for the 20-year-old. Celta Vigo will demand €40 million to part ways with the highly-rated midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Gabri Veiga is a native of O Porrino in Galicia and started his youth career at Santa Marina. He later joined Celta Vigo before rising through the ranks at the Galician club. The Spanish midfielder made his first-team debut for Celta Vigo in September 2020 as an 18-year-old.

But 2022/23 is proving to be the breakthrough campaign for the 20-year-old midfielder. The highly-rated prospect has turned out 26 times thus far for Celta Vigo, chipping in with eight goals and three assists. And Veiga’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid will dip into the market for a midfield reinforcement in the summer transfer window. That is because Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are approaching the end of their storied careers. And while the duo might continue for another season, it behoves Real Madrid to invest in a long-term successor.

Several midfielders have thus emerged on Real Madrid’s radar, with Jude Bellingham being their top target. But the English international is arguably the hottest property in the market. And Real Madrid will have to compete with Liverpool, Manchester City, and a few other clubs for the English international.

Gabri Veiga is thus a viable alternative on Real Madrid’s radar. And the reigning La Liga champions have been tracking his progress this season. The Merengues now know how much they will need to pay to sign the highly-rated Spanish midfielder. Celta Vigo will demand €40 million to part ways with the 20-year-old.

Veiga will be a cheaper alternative to Bellingham and a few other midfielders in the market. And Real Madrid should have the funds to sign the Spanish midfielder for €40 million. But it will be interesting to see if the highly-rated 20-year-old prospect becomes the top target for Real Madrid.
