Real Madrid are reportedly looking to prioritise signing Jude Bellingham, a target for Liverpool, from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

According to a report from Spanish publication AS, Jude Bellingham remains a priority target for Real Madrid over a move at the end of the season as they look to reinforce their midfield. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is also a target for Liverpool.

Players like Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are on their last legs, and Florentino Perez will need to bring in world-class alternatives. The 19-year-old England international is undoubtedly a world-class talent who has proven himself with the German club and at the international level with England.

Bellingham is thought to be a priority target for Liverpool as well, and Real Madrid are hoping to beat the Premier League giants to his signature. Both teams are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, and Bellingham would be a sensational long-term acquisition. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.

Apparently, Liverpool are optimistic of signing him, and manager Jurgen Klopp has been calling him every day in order to convince him to move to Anfield. Meanwhile, former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is thought to be playing a key role in luring the midfielder to Liverpool as well.

Real Madrid believe they have an excellent relationship with the German club. And it remains to be seen whether they can outmuscle the Reds and secure the 19-year-old’s services. However, they are aware of the fact that Klopp has deeper connections with Dortmund, having managed them in the past and help them win major trophies.

Klopp’s connections at Dortmund could tip the scales in Liverpool’s favour as far as the Bellingham transfer is concerned. On top of that, the opportunity to return to his homeland is likely to be an attractive idea for Bellingham rather than moving to Spain.

That said, Liverpool are in real danger of missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification this season. And a player of Bellingham’s quality will want to compete at the highest level. If Liverpool failed to secure top-four finish, Real Madrid will probably have an added advantage when it comes to signing the midfielder.
