Barcelona will reportedly look to sign 19-year-old Brazilian right-back Wesley from Flamengo in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Wesley continues to be the subject of interest from Barcelona. The 19-year-old Brazilian right-back was a January target for the Blaugrana. And they will look to sign him from Flamengo in the summer transfer window after a winter move failed to materialise.
Wesley has gone from strength to strength at Flamengo, taking age-group football by storm. He joined the Mengao in January 2021 and has made rapid progress in the last couple of years. And the teenage sensation has seen his progress reach European shores in the last few months.
The 19-year-old made his first-team debut for Flamengo in October 2021 and has made three more appearances since then. A right-back by trade, Wesley is the modern-day full-back in his full might. And the Brazilian defender’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona among his prospective suitors.
Barcelona wanted to sign Wesley on an initial loan deal in the January transfer window. And the Blaugrana would have assigned the youngster to the reserve side in the first few months. In addition, the player was keen on joining Barcelona and pushed Flamengo to accept the offer from the Catalan outfit.
But Flamengo did not entertain the loan-to-buy proposal from Barcelona, who failed to sign a player last month. However, that has not stopped Barcelona from retaining an interest in Wesley, who remains on the club’s radar. And the Blaugrana will launch the offensive for the 19-year-old Brazilian right-back again in the summer.
Barcelona will again look to assign Wesley to the reserve squad, managed by Rafael Marquez. But the teenage prodigy will have the chance to stamp his authority and graduate to the first team. And with Sergi Roberto approaching the final phase of his career, Wesley will have his opportunity.

But it is unclear if Flamengo will entertain any proposals for the summer transfer window, either. For now, the Catalan giants remain interested in the 19-year-old Brazilian right-back. And it will be interesting to see if Wesley joins Barcelona in the summer.
