Liverpool are reportedly considering a late move for highly sought-after Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are interested in Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher. They might make a move to sign him before the deadline day ends. The Merseyside club will love to add him to their squad as he will bolster their midfield.
Liverpool’s priority is to push for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Nunes in the summer. But Jurgen Klopp will surely love to add him to his clueless midfield unit before the January transfer window shuts.
Conor Gallagher’s arrival might help Klopp revive his team. Liverpool are currently ninth in the Premier League. And the Reds have found life very difficult in the 2022/23 campaign. A lot has to do with the midfield not clicking and injuries to players are crucial junctures.
Gallagher’s addition will add depth to their midfield. And his versatility will allow the Merseyside team to field different combinations in the middle of the park. The Chelsea midfielder has played nine matches as a box-to-box midfielder and six as a no. 10 in the ongoing season. He can even be used as a holding midfielder or at times, if needed, he can play on the right-hand side.
The English international has featured in 25 matches for Chelsea so far in the season. 18 of his appearances have come in the Premier League in which he has two goal contributions.
Liverpool’s midfield is no longer the same. Age is catching up to a few players, while others are struggling with injuries. And a few have been struggling for form. Gallagher’s addition might help them complete the season with a flurry.
But, signing Gallagher will not be easy. The 22-year-old is a hot topic in the transfer window, and a lot of clubs are interested in having his services. While he does not want a move away from his childhood club, Chelsea might sell him, as they are on the verge of signing Enzo Fernandez.
Everton did bid for the young English midfielder, and even Newcastle United are in the race. So, it will be interesting to see if any of the clubs actually land Conor Gallagher before the deadline day ends. Liverpool’s presence in the equation certainly spices things up.
