La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have reportedly approached Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt to enquire about Daichi Kamada.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Daichi Kamada is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants have contacted Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt to ask about the player’s status. The 26-year-old is poised to become a free agent in the summer transfer window.
Daichi Kamada had humble beginnings in Europe after joining Eintracht Frankfurt from Sagan Tosu in July 2017. The Japanese international did not set the stage alight in Bundesliga straight away. But he has been on a tear since returning to Eintracht Frankfurt following a loan stint with Sint-Truiden.
The 26-year-old has been top-notch this season, amassing 12 goals and four assists in 24 outings thus far. But Kamada’s contract situation has left Eintracht Frankfurt in a spot of bother as he is in the final six months of his deal. And Barcelona will hope to end the player’s stint in the Bundesliga in the summer transfer window.
Barcelona will continue the squad overhaul in the summer, with Xavi Hernandez keen on bolstering multiple departments. And midfield is one of the areas of concern for the Barcelona manager. The Blaugrana will not just seek a long-term successor to Sergio Busquets but also a new creative midfielder.
Several midfielders, including Bernardo Silva, thus feature on Barcelona’s radar. And Daichi Kamada is also an attractive target for the Catalan outfit. The player’s form — 12 goals and four assists this season — already made him an appealing prospect. And his impending free-agent status adds to Kamada’s allure.
The 26-year-old is yet to sign a new contract with Eintracht Frankfurt. And Barcelona recently approached the Bundesliga outfit to ask about Kamada’s status. So after recently joining the race to sign the Japanese international, a Bosman move might be on the cards.
But the Catalan giants are yet to take a call on pursuing the Eintracht Frankfurt attacker in the summer. For now, the 26-year-old remains an appealing target for Barcelona. And it will be interesting to see if a Bosman deal sees the light of day.
