Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain no longer want to sign Bernardo Silva, clearing the path for Barcelona to chase the 28-year-old.

According to a report by French outlet Media Foot, Bernardo Silva no longer features on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain. But the Manchester City playmaker remains in the plans of Barcelona, who will look to sign him in the summer transfer window.

Bernardo Silva has been one of the best creative midfielders in the Premier League since arriving from AS Monaco in July 2017. He has not always been the first-choice option for Pep Guardiola. But the Portuguese international has delivered the goods more often than not, especially in clutch situations.

The 28-year-old has turned out 277 times thus far for Manchester City, chipping in with 50 goals and 56 assists. But Silva admittedly wants to embark on a new adventure if the opportunity presents itself. Such a situation has captured the attention of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona had been keen on signing Silva in the summer transfer window. But after activating several economic levers and stretching their budget, they could not secure the services of the Manchester City playmaker. The Premier League champions were not willing to part ways with their prized asset either.

But Silva remains on Barcelona’s radar, with the Blaugrana eyeing a summer move for the player. However, a few stumbling blocks have emerged in Barcelona’s path in the last few weeks. One of these was the presence of Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the equation.

The French giants bolstered their midfield unit by signing multiple players in the summer transfer window. So it is unclear why Silva has been on the agenda for PSG ahead of the 2023 summer transfer window. However, Les Parisiens are no longer interested in the 28-year-old playmaker as they want Warren Zaire-Emery to progress and reach the pinnacle at Parc des Princes.

PSG’s changed stance has handed the advantage to Barcelona in the race to sign the Portuguese international. But a hefty price tag may stop Barcelona from bringing Silva to Spotify Camp Nou amid the never-ending financial woes. It will be interesting to see if the Catalan giants pounce on their advantage to land the 28-year-old.
