Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly eager to end his frustrating stint with Chelsea by rejoining Barcelona this month.

According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has responded favourably to the interest from Barcelona. The veteran striker is keen on rejoining the Blaugrana this month and ending his short and frustrating stint with Chelsea.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has seen his career spiralling in the last 18 months. It all started with his declining stock at Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta banishing him from the first team. The 33-year-old subsequently left Arsenal as a free agent before joining Barcelona as the January transfer window closed in 2022.

The Gabonese striker enjoyed a superb second half of the 2022/23 season, ending the campaign as Barcelona’s joint-top scorer. But his stock fell when Barcelona signed Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich. And while the Blaugrana wanted to keep the player at Spotify Camp Nou, they had no choice but to sell him to Chelsea when a move for Memphis Depay failed to materialise.

But Aubameyang has struggled to stamp his authority at Chelsea, managing only three goals in 15 appearances thus far. And the Blues will unlikely stop the former Arsenal captain from leaving if a suitor presents an attractive option. And the veteran striker has emerged as a target for Barcelona.

Barcelona might lose Memphis Depay six months after they tried to offload the Dutchman. The 28-year-old is a target for Atletico Madrid, who will look to sign him as a replacement for Joao Felix. And Aubameyang has emerged as a viable candidate to replace Depay at Spotify Camp Nou.

With Barcelona struggling for goals whenever Lewandowski is unavailable, bringing Aubameyang back is an advisable decision. And the Chelsea forward is keen on rejoining Barcelona this month and ending his misery at Stamford Bridge. But a move might not be possible due to RFEF rules.

According to Mundo Deportivo, a deal is impossible as Aubameyang cannot have a third registration in his name in a season. So the 33-year-old will have to see out the ongoing season at Chelsea before seeking a new adventure in the summer.
