Chelsea will reportedly compete with Real Madrid and Manchester United in the race to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Kylian Mbappe is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues have joined Real Madrid and Manchester United to sign the 2022 FIFA World Cup finalist from Paris Saint-Germain next year.

Kylian Mbappe is arguably the best player in the world and has enjoyed a remarkable rise to superstardom in the last half a decade. The 24-year-old had a humble beginning at AS Monaco but helped the principality club win the Ligue 1 title in his first full season. And Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco at the onset of the 2017/18 season.

Since then, the Frenchman has gone from strength to strength and is enjoying a brilliant 2022/23 campaign. Mbappe has 19 goals and five assists in 20 appearances across all competitions thus far this term. And he won the Golden Boot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, only to fall agonisingly short in the final. Meanwhile, the player is unsettled at PSG, which has alerted Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Chelsea.

Real Madrid came close to signing Mbappe in the summer transfer window before he infamously snubbed them to sign a new contract with PSG. And recent reports claimed that the Merengues were no longer eager to sign the 24-year-old. But Florentino Perez is keeping tabs on the player’s situation at PSG.

As for Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo’s frosty departure from Old Trafford has left a vacant spot in the offensive unit. And Mbappe is the perfect candidate to fill the void left by the veteran striker’s exit. Recent reports even pointed at Manchester United being in the pole position to sign the Frenchman.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will look to revamp the offensive unit next year, with Christopher Nkunku being the first signing. But with several attackers underperforming, Graham Potter needs more resources at his disposal. And the 2022 World Cup finalist is the ideal candidate to reinforce the Chelsea attack.
