La Liga champions Real Madrid reportedly want to sell out-of-favour attacker Eden Hazard back to Chelsea next year.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Madrid will look to cash in on Eden Hazard next year. And the reigning La Liga champions hope to sell the out-of-favour attacker back to Chelsea, where he previously enjoyed a brilliant stint.

Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in July 2019, completing a lifelong dream in the process. But the spell with Los Blancos has turned into a nightmare for the Belgian attacker, who has endured a spate of fitness issues and battled poor form in the last three and a half years.

The 31-year-old has been a shell of the electric winger he was at Chelsea. And Hazard has barely featured for Real Madrid this season, managing one goal and one assist in six appearances thus far. The experienced attacker was not at his best at the 2022 FIFA World Cup either and has announced his international retirement after Belgium’s ouster from the group stage.

With things going from bad to worse, Hazard’s days at Real Madrid seem numbered. And the reigning La Liga champions want to sell the former Belgium captain back to Chelsea next year. But it is unclear if the Blues are interested in re-signing the struggling attacker.

Chelsea will likely enter the market for an offensive reinforcement despite inching closer to landing Christopher Nkunku. That is because Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic face uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge. So the Chelsea attack might have a few vacancies next year, one that Hazard can potentially fill.

The out-of-favour Real Madrid attacker will unlikely be averse to not returning to Chelsea. But as iterated earlier, it is unclear if the west Londoners are ready to re-sign the 31-year-old amid his never-ending struggles. And if a move to Chelsea does not materialise, Real Madrid will look to sell him to either Juventus or Lille.

The Italian giants have shown interest in Hazard, and moving to Lille might work well for Hazard, too. So it will be interesting to see where the Belgian winger lands after leaving Real Madrid, which seems a matter of formality.
