La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly considering a January move for Vedat Muriqi, valued at €20 million by RCD Mallorca.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Vedat Muriqi is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. Los Blancos can sign the Kosovan striker for €20 million from fellow La Liga club RCD Mallorca in the January transfer window.

Vedat Muriqi has taken his career to unprecedented heights since joining RCD Mallorca from Lazio. The 28-year-old had always been an inconsistent performer in his stints prior to the one with the Spanish club. But after a successful 2021/22 campaign with Mallorca, he joined them permanently in the summer.

The Kosovan international is enjoying a solid 2022/23 season, amassing eight goals and one assist in 12 appearances thus far. And Muriqi’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with several clubs, including Real Madrid, setting their sights on him.

The reigning La Liga champions rarely dip their toes in the market for a player in the January transfer window. But Karim Benzema’s fitness issues might force Real Madrid to make an emergency signing. That is because Mariano Diaz does not feature in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. And while Rodrygo Goes has done well as a striker, he is better suited to the right-wing berth.

So it behoves Real Madrid to invest in a striker in the January transfer window. And Los Blancos might have a vacant attacking berth to fill amid links between Mariano and Lazio. Muriqi is thus a viable target for Real Madrid heading into the January transfer window. And the Kosovan striker will not cost a bomb either.

The 28-year-old has a release clause worth €38 million in his contract with RCD Mallorca. But Los Piratas will likely conduct business with fellow La Liga club Real Madrid for around €20 million. That makes Muriqi an attractive target for his suitors, including Aston Villa.

It will be interesting to see if the Kosovan international prioritises regular game time by remaining at Mallorca or joining Aston Villa. But the prospect of representing Real Madrid comes once in a lifetime, leaving Muriqi in a pickle.
