Liverpool are gaining a foothold to wrap up a deal for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice as they are planning to bring in at least a new face next summer.

According to Caught Offside, the Reds have long been interested in Chelsea target Declan Rice and could finally stump up their interest next summer. Rice has been the subject of severe speculation and it might be his last season with the Hammers.

Rice’s stock has only gone upwards in the last couple of seasons and his performance has been very pivotal to how West Ham performs on the pitch. He has already established himself in the good books of Gareth Southgate and will be one of the first players to board the flight to Qatar when the World Cup starts later this month.

Liverpool’s need for a young midfielder is no secret as the Reds have also been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham. Jordan Henderson and James Milner’s growing age has been a concern for Jurgen Klopp while both Thiago and Naby Keita have had their injury issues.

They took a big risk by acquiring the service of Arthur from Juventus on a loan deal but that move hasn’t paid off at all as the Brazilian midfielder has been ruled out for a prolonged period.

Rice will be entering the last year of his contract and the Hammers are well aware of his potential. They have been trying to extend his stay for quite a long time but the youngster has shown no intention of signing a new deal and if this situation persists the London giants will be forced to cash in on the player.

Chelsea are keeping an eye on the player as the Blues are destined to make some changes in their midfield department. Both N’Golo Kante and Jorginho’s contracts are up for expiry next summer and Rice’s arrival could be immense given the club’s transformation.

Liverpool will be locked in a transfer tussle for the highly-rated defensive midfielder and it remains to be seen what will be their approach in the summer.
