Juventus are open to letting Weston McKennie depart in January to make room for another arrival, with Tottenham keen on signing him.

According to Il Bianconero, Juventus are open to entertaining offers coming in for Weston McKennie. The American midfielder is considered dispensable, as the Serie A giants want to add a new option in the January transfer window. Tottenham are reportedly chasing the USMNT international.

Weston McKennie was one of the star performers for Juventus on Friday when they crushed Empoli in a Serie A game at the Allianz Stadium. The 24-year-old American midfielder came up with a crucial goal in the game and continued with a decent season.

There were suggestions McKennie played regularly due to Paul Pogba’s injury-related absence. The Frenchman is yet to make his second debut for Juventus since re-signing on a free transfer in the summer. As Pogba inches closer to returning, the American may find life difficult at the club.

According to Il Bianconero, Juventus are open to letting the midfielder leave. There were rumours of involving McKennie in a potential swap deal with Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga. But the Serie A giants have other realistic targets in mind. One being, Atletico Madrid’s Rodrigo De Paul.

The Argentine midfielder was a big signing last year for Diego Simeone and seemingly settled in well during his first season. However, he has found it difficult to get going, as Los Rojiblancos are having an indifferent season. Simeone no longer trusts De Paul, and the relations are fractious.

There were rumours of Tottenham’s interest in the Argentine not long ago, but De Paul may prefer returning to Italy. Hence, Juventus would be in the mix to bring him to Serie A and reignite a chase they previously failed with. However, they will need to create room in the squad, and McKennie could be sacrificed.

Tottenham are also interested in McKennie, with Fabio Paratici keen to bring him to north London. Juventus could be open to offers for the USMNT international. Hence a potential move in January could be on the cards. How much they demand for the midfielder remains a question, but Tottenham can be expected to afford the asking price.

More importantly, McKennie should also be open to signing for Tottenham. And considering the presence of Antonio Conte, he could be an achievable target for the Spurs. The coming months will be key in determining the outcome of the 24-year-old midfielder’s future as Tottenham lurk in the background.
