La Liga heavyweights have reportedly set their sights on 24-year-old PSV Eindhoven holding midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare is the subject of interest from Ibrahim Sangare. The Dutch giants value the 24-year-old holding midfielder at €30 million, which might be within budget for the Blaugrana.
Ibrahim Sangare has been one of the most underrated midfielders in Europe for half a decade. The Ivory Coast international grew in stature in professional football at Toulouse FC before joining PSV Eindhoven in September 2020. And he has not looked back since then, establishing himself as a pivotal figure for the Dutch giants.
The 24-year-old holding midfielder has turned out over 100 times for PSV, chipping in with nine goals and seven assists. And Sangare recently reaffirmed his commitment to the Boeren by signing a new five-year contract. But that has not deterred his prospective suitors, including Barcelona.
Barcelona will enter the market for a holding midfielder in the 2023 summer transfer window. That is because Sergio Busquets’s performance levels have deteriorated considerably this year. And with the veteran Spaniard in the twilight of his career, the Catalan giants need to lay down a succession plan.
Several midfielders, including Enzo Fernandez, have thus emerged on Barcelona’s radar. And Sangare is also a viable target for the Blaugrana. The 24-year-old holding midfielder will not be expensive either, with PSV Eindhoven slapping a €30 million price tag on him.
While Barcelona’s financial health might not be strong enough yet, they might be able to afford to pay €30 million for Sangare. And considering the Ivory Coast international has his best years ahead of him, the investment seems worth it. But Barcelona might not have much luck if they wish to negotiate the price, as Sangare has five years left on his contract.
If financial issues persist, then the Blaugrana might be better off pursuing a potential free agent like Youri Tielemans. For now, Sangare has emerged as a viable target for Barcelona, with the Catalan outfit receiving glowing reports on the 24-year-old. It will be interesting to see if he becomes a top target for them.
