La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly considering a Bosman move for 25-year-old Leicester City playmaker Youri Tielemans.
According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona will look to enter the market for more free agents in the 2023 summer transfer window. And 25-year-old Leicester City playmaker Youri Tielemans is one of the subjects of interest from the Blaugrana.
Youri Tielemans has established himself as one of the best creative midfielders since joining Leicester City from AS Monaco. The Foxes initially signed the Belgian international on loan in January 2019 before completing his permanent capture in the subsequent summer.
The 25-year-old has gone from strength to strength at the King Power Stadium in the last three years. And Tielemans has featured in every game this season for Leicester, even though he has entered the final year of his contract. But his delicate situation has captured the attention of Barcelona.
Barcelona used the summer transfer window to bring in several free agents, just as they had done in 2021. And the Catalan giants intend to continue that trend next summer, which explains why they have identified several potential targets. One of them is Tielemans.
The interest in the 25-year-old comes amid Sergio Busquets’s advancing years. And with the Barcelona captain in the twilight of his career, Barcelona will lay down a succession plan for him in the coming months. Several players, including Ruben Neves, have thus emerged on Barcelona’s radar.
But many midfielders who might potentially become free agents next summer have also popped up as options. Some of these players are Jorginho, Ilkay Gundogan, and N’Golo Kante. And Tielemans is also a viable target for the Blaugrana over a possible Bosman move next summer. But Barcelona might not be the only club pursuing Tielemans in 2023.
Liverpool and Real Madrid have also shown interest in the 25-year-old. In addition, Newcastle United might look to prise him away from fellow Premier League club Leicester City in January. So Barcelona will have to be decisive while pursuing Tielemans, starting with establishing contact with the Belgian international. And the ideal scenario will be to secure a pre-contract agreement in January.
