La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up a move for 27-year-old French midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Adrien Rabiot is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions will look to sign the 27-year-old French midfielder in a Bosman move in the 2023 summer transfer window.

Adrien Rabiot was once one of the most promising midfielders during his stint with Paris Saint-Germain. And it seemed Juventus had struck gold when the Frenchman left PSG to move to the Allianz Stadium in a Bosman move in July 2019. But Rabiot has struggled to live up to the billing in the last three years.

The 27-year-old, who has made 138 appearances for Juventus, has featured regularly for the Serie A giants. But the French midfielder has failed to perform consistently in the last three years. And after entering the final year of his contract, Rabiot might leave Juventus as a free agent next year. Such a situation has captured the attention of Real Madrid.

The interest in Rabiot is surprising, considering he does not have the qualities to succeed either Luka Modric or Toni Kroos. Someone like Jude Bellingham will be a better target for Real Madrid. But while the Merengues are confident of signing Bellingham, pursuing Rabiot might not be a bad idea.

Real Madrid might lose Dani Ceballos as a free agent next summer, with the Spaniard disgruntled by his role at the Santiago Bernabeu. And Rabiot is a viable candidate to fill Ceballos’s berth in the squad. In addition, the 27-year-old’s impending status as a free agent makes him an appealing target for Real Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti, who briefly managed Rabiot during his days at PSG, wants the French midfielder in his squad. And it looks like the reigning La Liga champions will pursue the Juventus midfielder next summer. Interestingly, Rabiot had nearly joined Manchester United in August before the move broke down.
