Manchester United are reportedly closing in on agreeing personal terms with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot with a transfer now on the horizon.

According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Manchester United are inching closer to the capture of Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot as they have made serious progress in talks over personal terms with the 27-year-old.

After making futile attempts to try and sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona for close to three months, Manchester United have decided to shift their focus to other midfield targets. A move for Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could be in the works, with a bid being planned for the Serbian powerhouse.

At the same time, Manchester United are also working on a deal for another Serie A-based midfielder in Juventus star Adrien Rabiot. The 27-year-old Frenchman has had an underwhelming career in Italy since joining the Bianconeri from PSG in the summer of 2019. Despite that, it seems like Manchester United see him as a viable addition to their ailing midfield department.

Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic departed Old Trafford this summer, while Fred and Scott McTominay showed they cannot be relied upon week in and week out, putting in a dismal performance in the Premier League season-opener against Brighton & Hove Albion. So, a new face in the middle of the park is an urgent necessity for Manchester United, with Rabiot looking set to arrive at the club.

Manchester United already have an agreement with Juventus over a transfer fee. Following that, they opened talks with Rabiot’s mother, who also happens to be his agent, to discuss personal terms.

Rudy Galetti reports that talks were going on over a potential four-year contract for the French international with a net salary of around €6-7 million per season. The Italian journalist has now claimed that the negotiations have progressed well, and the two parties are closing in on an agreement over personal terms, taking Rabiot closer to a move to Manchester United.

So, as things stand, unless there are any drastic changes or sudden U-turns, Rabiot seems poised to become Manchester United’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window after the arrivals of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez. Erik ten Hag’s side also need to bring in a new striker amid question marks over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo, while a new right-back could also be signed.
