Chelsea have made contact with the entourage of Stanislav Lobotka over the possibility of a potential transfer.
According to Calciomercato, Chelsea have submitted an enquiry for the availability of 27-year-old Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka as they are very keen to entice him to Stamford Bridge.
Following the appointment of Graham Potter, there has been a sense of optimism flowing at the club. And the results are also reflecting as Chelsea’s performances have improved in the last few matches. But the Blues remain a club under development since the takeover of the new owner. And Potter has underlined the need to get a certain number of players to get the balance right.
The Chelsea manager is facing an enormous task to keep his midfield contingent intact as N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are in the final year of their respective contracts. In addition, both midfielders have emerged on Barcelona’s radar.
Kante reportedly wants to remain at Chelsea. But his injury troubles have already put him out of contention for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. And it is a major doubt whether he will be able to get in his previous shape following his long absence.
Napoli are enjoying an exceptional season, and their pleasing gameplay has been the main reason behind their success. Stanislav Lobotka has retained his place in all nine matches in Serie A as they look to challenge for the title under Luciano Spalletti this campaign.
The Serie A giants appear to have the intent of extending his stay. And the 27-year-old has had an initial few rounds of talks over the proposal of fresh terms. But Lobotka’s demands have not been met, although both parties are confident a conclusion will be reached soon.
Chelsea are ready to intervene and have hinted they will accept the 27-year-old’s demand should he arrive in West London. And the Blues have already approached Lobotka’s entourage to see if a move might be possible. Manchester City are also reportedly chasing the player’s signature, but they do not feel the urge much as Pep Guardiola seems to be pretty happy with his squad for now.
A defensive midfielder is absolutely a priority for Potter, and the sooner Chelsea reach a deal for the player the better it will be. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can strike a deal to sign Lobotka from Napoli anytime soon.
