Manchester City battle Liverpool for Jamal Musiala

Manchester City have reportedly joined Liverpool in the chase for Bayern Munich whizkid Jamal Musiala.

According to a report from Calciomercato, Liverpool are not the only English club looking to sign Jamal Musiala. And they will battle it out with Premier League rivals Manchester City for the German international.

Musiala has been an exceptional player for Bayern Munich since joining the club from Chelsea. And he has established himself as a key player for the Bundesliga champions. The German whizkid has seven goals and eight assists to his name across 13 appearances this season.

Furthermore, he has managed to carve out a place for himself in the national team under Hansi Flick as well. The 19-year-old is a prodigious talent who has all the tools to develop into a world-class footballer. It is no surprise that top clubs around Europe are looking to secure his services.

The youngster can operate as a centre forward as well as an attacking midfielder. And Musiala’s versatility will be a bonus for his suitors – Manchester City and Liverpool.

However, Bayern Munich highly rate Musiala, are the Bundesliga giants are not known to cash in on their prized assets. So it will be very difficult for Liverpool and Manchester City to convince Bayern to sell the youngster anytime soon. Bayern do not need money, and the two clubs will thus struggle to tempt them with a lucrative offer.

Furthermore, Musiala is enjoying his time in Germany, and the player will unlikely force a move either. He is a regular starter for Bayern, who have a rich history of developing talented young players. Musiala will back himself to fulfil his potential at the Allianz Arena.

Liverpool can certainly use a creative presence like him, and Musiala will be an exceptional long-term signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side. However, Manchester City can easily outmuscle Liverpool financially.

But the defending Premier League champions are already well-stocked in the midfield unit, and Musiala might not be guaranteed regular game time at the Etihad. That is because Pep Guardiola already has Jack Grealish and Phil Foden at his disposal. Nonetheless, there is no doubt that Musiala is a star in the making. But for now, a move to the Premier League seems highly unlikely.
