Leeds United vs Wolves: Preview and Prediction

Leeds United will host Wolves at Elland Road on Saturday, looking to build on the win over Manchester United earlier this week.

Leeds United are coming into this game vs Wolves on the back of three wins and two draws from the last five matches in all competitions. The Whites will be full of confidence heading into this game, and they will look to pick up all three points.

Leeds United are still very much in the race for survival, and a win here could take them nine points clear of the bottom three, which will more or less guarantee their safety. So, Daniel Farke’s men will be fully motivated for this contest.

On the other hand, Wolves are at the bottom of the league table, and they are coming into this game on the back of a comprehensive defeat against West Ham United. They have failed to win 33 of the last 36 Premier League matches, making this a difficult outing for them.

Leeds have the momentum and confidence with them after beating Manchester United at Old Trafford, and they should be able to get the job done. The Hard Tackle takes a closer look at the encounter ahead of the latest meeting between the two sides.

Team News & Tactics

Leeds United

Daniel Farke will be without Anton Stach (ankle), Joe Rodon (ankle) and Dan James (groin) this weekend. Leeds United will shape up in a 3-5-2 formation vs Wolves, with Karl Darlow in goal.

In the back three, James Justin will start alongside Jaka Bijol and Pascal Struijk. Meanwhile, Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson will start as the wing-backs. They will look to keep things tight at the back and hit the away side on the break.

As for the midfield unit, Ao Tanaka and Ethan Ampadu will provide defensive cover and physicality in the middle of the park. Brenden Aaronson will add drive to the midfield alongside them. Finally, Noah Okafor will lead the line for Leeds United, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin alongside him.

Probable Lineup (3-5-2): Darlow; Justin, Bijol, Struijk; Bogle, Aaronson, Tanaka, Ampadu, Gudmundsson; Okafor, Calvert-Lewin

Wolves

Rob Edwards will be without Enso Gonzalez Medina (knee) and Sam Johnstone (shoulder). Meanwhile, Yerson Mosquera is suspended for the next two games after picking up his tenth booking of the 2025/26 Premier League season in the game against West Ham United.

Wolves are likely to shape up in a 3-4-2-1 formation vs Leeds United, with Jose Sa in goal. In the back three, Matt Doherty will start alongside Ladislav Krejci and Santiago Bueno. Jackson Tchatchoua and Hugo Bueno will start as the wing-backs here. They will look to keep things tight at the back and hit the Whites on the break.

Joao Gomes and Andre Trindade will add defensive cover and control from the middle of the park. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Mateus Mane will start as the attacking midfielders here. They will add width, place and flair to the team and help create opportunities for their teammates. Finally, Adam Armstrong will lead the line for Wolves vs Leeds United.

Probable Lineup (3-4-2-1): Sa; Doherty, Santiago Bueno, Krejci; Tchatchoua, Andre, Joao Gomes, Hugo Bueno; Bellegarde, Mane; Armstrong

Key Stats

Player to Watch

Noah Okafor

The Leeds United attacker is our key player to watch out for. He was outstanding against Manchester United and scored twice in the game. Okafor is high on confidence, and he has impressed in the Premier League since joining Leeds United. He will look to get on the sheet again and create opportunities for his teammates.

Meanwhile, Okafor has scored four goals in his last four Premier League games, twice as many as he netted in his first 21 appearances in the competition beforehand (2). Only two Swiss players have scored more Premier League goals in a single season than his six in 2025/26: Xherdan Shaqiri in 2017-18 (8), and Granit Xhaka in 2022/23 (7).

Wolves have been quite poor at the back, and they could struggle to contain him. He will look to make a defining impact in the final third and help his team pick up three points in their battle for survival. With Okafor showing such splendid form, it is hardly surprising that he is a captaincy candidate in FPL for Gameweek 33.

Prediction

Leeds United 2-1 Wolves

Both teams will be looking to fight for a win here, and this is likely to be a close contest. However, Leeds are the better team on current form, and they will be the favourites to grind out all three points at home.

Wolves have been quite poor at the back, and Leeds United have the quality in the final third to expose them. Both teams are likely to get on the score sheet here, but the home team should be able to pick up a narrow victory. The Hard Tackle predicts a hard-fought 2-1 win for Daniel Farke and his charges.
