Liverpool will travel to Aston Villa for their next Premier League game on Monday night, hoping to pick up all three points.

Liverpool had a mediocre first half of the campaign and are currently sixth in the Premier League table. The Reds will be desperate to get back into the top four and secure Champions League qualification. The Merseyside outfit come into this game on the back of a 3-2 defeat against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup earlier this week. And Liverpool will hope to bounce back strongly when they take on Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa can grind out a morale-boosting win at home over Liverpool. The Hard Tackle takes a closer look at the encounter ahead of the latest meeting between the two sides.

Key Stats

Player to Watch

Mohamed Salah

The Egyptian international has scored ten goals in his last ten appearances for Liverpool and he will be our man to watch this week. Salah will need to be at his best for the Reds to grind out all three points at a difficult venue.

The 30-year-old managed to get on the score sheet against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup. And he will be hoping to make his mark in the Premier League game against Aston Villa as well.

Prediction

Aston Villa 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool have not been at their best this season, and Aston Villa are likely to pose a difficult challenge for them. This is likely to be a close contest between the two teams who are equally capable of grinding out all three points.

However, Liverpool are the better team on paper and will be motivated to get their season back on track with a positive result. Given their performance against Manchester City despite fielding a second-string side, the Reds should be able to raise their performance levels and grind out the all-important three points.
