Sofyan Amrabat speaks about Liverpool, Manchester United links

Barcelona target Sofyan Amrabat has suggested that it will be “nice” to play in the Premier League amid links with Liverpool and Manchester United.

As quoted by 90min, Sofyan Amrabat has responded to links with Premier League clubs. Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly among the teams keen on signing the Fiorentina midfielder. And he has suggested that he is open to moving to England. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old is also a target for Barcelona.

Amrabat said, “Of course, the Premier League is a fantastic league, one of the strongest in the world. It would be nice to play there one day, but it’s not that I want only to go to England, because Spain is nice, Serie A is a nice league. Football has changed a lot, it’s more physical, you have more to be an athlete, the tempo and intensity is higher. Of course, in England the intensity is very high, so I think it could suit me.”

Sofyan Amrabat has become a highly sought-after midfielder in the last 12 months. The Moroccan international had already become a hot property due to his exploits for Fiorentina. And his stock has skyrocketed following his national team’s phenomenal run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The 26-year-old played a pivotal role as Morocco became the first African side to reach a World Cup semi-finals. Meanwhile, Amrabat has made 106 appearances for Fiorentina, chipping in with one goal and one assist. And the player’s progress has captured the attention of several top clubs, including Barcelona, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

Barcelona attempted to sign Amrabat in the January transfer window, but a move did not materialise. However, the Catalan giants remain keen on signing the Fiorentina midfielder. The player is a priority target for Barcelona as they look to identify Sergio Busquets’s long-term heir.

As for Liverpool, the Reds have lost three players as free agents this summer. In addition, a few others were dreadful in the 2022/23 season. So Liverpool can do with multiple new midfielders ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. And Amrabat has emerged as a viable target.

Meanwhile, Manchester United recently joined the race to sign the 26-year-old. And he can be an upgrade on Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay, and Fred at Old Trafford. Meanwhile, Amrabat’s latest comments would have boosted Manchester United’s hopes of securing his services.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona can turn Amrabat’s head amid his links with Liverpool and Manchester United. Meanwhile, the player will be in action in the UEFA Europa Conference League this week against West Ham United. That might be his last game for Fiorentina.
