Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, a target for Barcelona, this summer.

Sofyan Amrabat has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months. And a report from Spanish publication SPORT claims that Manchester United will provide competition to Barcelona for the Fiorentina midfielder.

Amrabat has been outstanding for club and country this past season. So it is no surprise that the top European clubs are looking to sign him during the summer transfer window. The 26-year-old was outstanding at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Morocco, who reached the semi-finals of the tournament.

His aggression, physicality, and defensive work rate proved to be crucial for his side in the middle of the park. And Manchester United could certainly use someone with his skill set. Erik ten Hag needs to find a top-class partner for Casemiro, and Amrabat would be a massive upgrade on Scott McTominay and Fred.

The 26-year-old midfielder has already proven himself in Italy, and he will be looking to pursue a different challenge at this stage of his career. The opportunity to play for a club like Manchester United could prove to be hard to turn down.

The Red Devils have secured Champions League qualification, and they managed to win the League Cup this season as well. They are expected to compete for major trophies next season, and Amrabat will certainly want to be a part of a team like that.

Meanwhile, Barcelona need to bring in midfield reinforcements as well. They have parted ways with club legend Sergio Busquets and will need to replace the Spaniard adequately. Amrabat could prove to be a quality signing for them. But it remains to be seen whether Barcelona can beat the competition from Manchester United and secure his signature.
