Nigel Jemson has predicted Liverpool to make a shock swoop for Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland next summer.

During an interview with Football Fan Cast, Nigel Jemson has opined on Erling Haaland’s future as the Borussia Dortmund forward looks set to attract a bidding war next summer. He believes that amid the big guns of Europe, it is Liverpool who could make an attempt to sign the talented superstar.

Recently starring in the 2-1 victory over Besiktas, Haaland has truly mesmerised the world with his incredible goalscoring prowess. The forward has already netted 66 goals in 66 competitive matches for Dortmund while his Champions League tally stands at 21 goals in 17 matches, higher than the likes of Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard.

Unsurprisingly, the Norwegian has been linked with a move to various top clubs across Europe. Reigning English champions Manchester City have emerged as one of the potential suitors. However, former Premier League striker Nigel Jemson does not share the same opinion.

Jemson, who had played for clubs like Sheffield Wednesday, Notts County and Oxford United in his long-spanning career, believes that Liverpool might want to make a move for Haaland next summer, as he is firm that the 21-year-old is Jurgen Klopp’s preferred option upfront.

Speaking to Football Fan Cast, he said, “I’ve just got a sneaky feeling that Haaland could be the one that Klopp really wants.”

While the 52-year-old did not go into detail over a potential move, it is apparent that he predicts the Norwegian to emerge as an ideal long-term replacement for Roberto Firmino. However, it is fair to point out that Haaland could cost a fortune which may even destabilise the club’s financial structure, especially at a time when they are being urged to secure a long-term deal for existing star Mohamed Salah.
Quite predictably, Liverpool have been linked with a move for cost-effective options like Karim Adeyemi in the market so far. Things, though, could change anytime, especially if the Reds end up losing out on the services of Salah, thus giving them the financial boost they need to make a large investment next summer.
In fact, the Merseyside giants may indeed go after a Dortmund star next summer, but it is likely to be Jude Bellingham, who has emerged as a top target for Jurgen Klopp.
