Crystal Palace have identified Thomas Frank as their top target to replace Pierre Sage, with the former Brentford and Tottenham manager open to taking over.
According to Football Insider, Thomas Frank is the reported front-runner and preferred choice for Crystal Palace to replace Pierre Sage. The Frenchman appears to be walking on thin ice regarding his position, as the club could now target a move for the former Brentford and Tottenham boss given his immense experience managing in the Premier League.
The recent 5-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion was a major turning point for Crystal Palace to begin considering a change of manager. The results following that defeat to their arch-rivals have not helped Sage protect his position, including the home loss to Newcastle United at the weekend.
While the South Londoners are yet to make a firm decision on the Frenchman’s immediate future, all signs point towards an imminent change should results continue to go against the team. There are a few options already being considered, according to media reports, with suggestions that Crystal Palace would be eager to lure a manager who is already a free agent.
That notion has led to a handful of names being mentioned as potential targets, with 53-year-old former Tottenham manager Thomas Frank a target for Palace. The report also states that the Danish manager would be open to taking the role at Selhurst Park, which could see him manage a third London-based club in the Premier League following his time with Brentford and Spurs.
Crystal Palace view Thomas Frank as top target
Frank was linked with the Crystal Palace job when Oliver Glasner decided to leave the club, long before they considered Sage as his successor. Now, the former Tottenham manager is viewed as the top target at Selhurst Park should the club end their association with Sage.
The Dane has spent most of his time in the Premier League with Brentford, where he managed 317 games, including 178 matches in the top flight. While he did not have the best of times at Tottenham, where he was sacked in February 2026 after taking over the previous summer, Palace view his experience and time with Brentford as the main reasons for their consideration.
Frank also attracted interest from Fulham recently, but the turnaround in progress under Alvaro Arbeloa could interest the Dane in the Selhurst Park job. More importantly, Palace currently play in a style that could suit the 53-year-old, who is averse to a back three, and the way the Eagles play could be a main reason for the club targeting him for the role.
