Former Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim could replace Marco Silva at Fulham ahead of next season.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Fulham are interested in having Ruben Amorim on their bench next season. The Cottagers are gearing up to hold talks with the former Manchester United boss to replace Marco Silva, who will leave the club when his contract expires this summer.
Silva informed the club about his decision to leave this week, and he looks set to replace Jose Mourinho at Benfica. With his contract running down, Fulham were aware that the Portuguese manager could choose to leave; as a result, they have been working behind the scenes to ensure they bring in the right man to build on the foundation laid by the 48-year-old.
They have a number of former Premier League managers on their wishlist, and Amorim is one of them. The Cottagers believe the former Manchester United manager’s style and his system could be an ideal fit for their squad and their long-term plans.
Silva, who took charge of the Cottagers in the summer of 2021, helped them secure promotion and establish themselves as a mid-table club. They might not have won a major title since their return to the top flight, but under the Portuguese manager, the club have taken giant strides.
Fulham can do with a manager Amorim on their bench
With Silva leaving soon, Fulham want to ensure they bring in the right man to build on their recent performances. Amorim is an exciting option for them, despite the fact that his time at Manchester United did not go as planned.
He took charge of the Premier League giants towards the end of 2024, but was sacked earlier this year after a disappointing first half of the 2025/26 season. He averaged just 1.43 points per game at United, which is simply not good enough for a club like them.
While results did not go their way, people at Old Trafford still appreciate him for the changes he brought behind the scenes. They feel a lot of what they have achieved under Michael Carrick in the second half of the season was possible because of Amorim’s work.
Given the kind of impact the 41-year-old had at Manchester United, he could certainly help Fulham push for a potential European spot in the near future. While his arrival will result in significant tactical changes, his attacking style of football with high-intensity pressing could take the Cottagers to the next level.
The club believes in their stability, Premier League status and ambitious ownership make the role quite attractive for any manager. Since they will be holding talks with a number of candidates, including Arne Slot, it will be interesting to see if Amorim does end up securing a return to the English top flight.
