Manchester United are plotting a raid on Bayern Munich for the services of their assistant manager, Aaron Danks.
Michael Carrick has completely transformed Manchester United since taking charge at the start of the year. The Red Devils are now almost certain to feature in the Champions League next season, and they have already started making plans to further bolster their team.
While the focus will be on reinforcing their squad, the Red Devils are also looking to add more quality to their coaching staff. According to a report from TEAMtalk, Manchester United are closely monitoring Bayern Munich assistant manager Aaron Danks.
United could end up making a move for the 42-year-old, as Michael Carrick is keen on having him on his staff if he were to take charge on a permanent basis. While the Red Devils won’t make a final decision on their next manager until the end of the season, the former United midfielder is certainly the frontrunner to land the job.
While he remains an interim, Carrick has already started planning for the long run. He rates Danks very highly and wants him as a part of his backroom team. The 42-year-old is currently an assistant to Vincent Kompany at Bayern. He has been a part of that setup for almost two years now.
He shares a great relationship with the Belgian manager, having worked with him at Anderlecht back in 2021. As a result, United certainly won’t find it easy to convince him about a move to Old Trafford.
United could go all out for Danks
Danks started his managerial career in the England youth setup before making the jump to senior football alongside Kompany. He has already made quite a name for himself, and United’s interest in his services is understandable.
Having worked at Aston Villa, he has decent experience of how things work in the Premier League, and he could help Carrick bring the best of United and help them get back to the top of English football. He has worked with the United boss at Middlesbrough for around two years. Knowing what he could bring to the table, the 44-year-old is pushing hard to have Danks by his side.
The Manchester-based club have already done background checks on the Bayern assistant and are quite impressed with the reports they have received. While no formal offers have been made, the Red Devils’ interest is concrete; as a result, it is one to keep an eye on.
