Chelsea will not part ways with Mauricio Pochettino if he manages to secure European football for next season.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Chelsea’s board have made a decision regarding the future of their Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino. While the Blues are on the lookout for a new manager and have their eyes on Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi, they will not sack the former Tottenham manager if the team secures a place in any of the European competitions for next season.

Mauricio Pochettino and his time at Chelsea

Pochettino took charge of Chelsea at the start of the season. The West London club’s new owner Todd Boehly was hoping that the Argentine could get his team back on track. The Blues once again went big the summer and made a few world-class signings. But despite that, their performances have not improved much.

The Blues are currently 11th in the league with just 36 points in their 26 outings. They are six points behind seventh-placed West Ham and eight points behind sixth-placed Manchester United. While there is still the possibility of them climbing the table, it looks unlikely, and their recent draw against Brentford has not done them any good.

The other way out is by winning the FA Cup and getting into the Europa League. Despite their disappointing performances so far, the board is hopeful that Mauricio Pochettino will turn things around in the final phase of the season.

Chelsea’s interest in Simone Inzaghi

They feel injuries have hampered the Argentine manager’s plans and with the majority of the players back fit, they are hoping to end the season on a high. If the former Tottenham manager manages to meet the expectations, he will stay in charge, if he fails Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi is the next one in line.

Inzaghi has done some exceptional work at Inter Milan over the past few seasons. They were in the Champions League final last season and are currently top of Serie A with a 12-point advantage to their name. His team’s dominant performances have put the 47-year-old on Chelsea’s radar and if they sack Mauricio Pochettino, the Blues will go after the signatures of Inzaghi.
