Xabi Alonso to reject Liverpool?
Nothing in football is as straightforward as the answer to the question above. In Xabi Alonso’s case, a big contest is brewing in the background for his signature, with Liverpool in the thick of it all. The Reds have seen increasing links to the 42-year-old manager right after Jurgen Klopp announced his intention to depart in the summer.
Alonso might not have even been a candidate at the start of the season. Still, the way he has steered Bayer Leverkusen into being favourites for the Bundesliga title, the equation and his market stature have dramatically changed. Liverpool considers him their priority target to replace Klopp, although any deal will take time and effort.
