Bayern Munich are ready to offer Xabi Alonso £20 million-a-year deal to lure him to the club amidst interest from Liverpool.

According to a report by the Mirror, Bayern Munich are keen on having Xabi Alonso on their bench ahead of next season. They are aware of Liverpool’s interest in the Bayer Leverkusen manager’s services. As a result, the German giants are ready to break the bank and offer him £20 million-a-year deal to beat the Merseyside club in the pursuit.

Alonso has done wonders at Leverkusen. His team are currently leading the Bundesliga title race and they have been unbeaten all season long. They have a comfortable lead at the top and have been playing some exceptional football under the guidance of the former Real Madrid midfielder.

His impressive work at the German club hasn’t gone unnoticed and multiple clubs are keen on his signatures. While Leverkusen are keen on having him on their bench for a few more years, they might not be able to hold off interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Bayern and Liverpool to battle for Alonso’s signatures

Bayern Munich have already announced that Thomas Tuchel will be parting ways with the club after the end of the season. As a result, the record Bundesliga winners have started the search for a new boss. They have watched Alonso’s work from close quarters and feel their former midfielder is the right man to take them forward.

But they are not the only club interested in him, even Liverpool are keen on bringing him back to the club. The former Spanish international had great success at the English club as a player and they are now looking at him as their priority target to replace Jurgen Klopp.

The German manager has already made a decision regarding his future. He will be ending his successful stint at the Merseyside club after this season. While no one saw it coming, the Reds have been given enough time to get a replacement in line.

They feel Alonso could be the ideal fit for the club and are expected to push hard for his signatures. Bayern are aware of Liverpool’s interest and they are willing to make the 42-year-old the highest-paid manager in Bundesliga history to beat the Reds in the race to his signatures.

They are ready to hand him a staggering £20 million-a-year salary which will give him parity with Premier League’s top-earning manager Pep Guardiola. While money will not be the base of his decision, he only earns around £5 million at Leverkusen, so the offer will surely make him think and it will put pressure on the English club.
