Hansi Flick has handed Barcelona a boost as the job appeals to him, with the 58-year-old manager already learning Spanish.

According to reputed German journalist Christian Falk, Hansi Flick is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the managerial market for a replacement for Xavi Hernandez. Meanwhile, the Barcelona job appeals to the German manager, who has started learning Spanish.

Hansi Flick and his Managerial Journey

Hansi Flick has had a rollercoaster of a managerial career thus far. A former player for Bayern Munich, he entered the coaching world with Victoria Bammental. But the German manager rose to prominence when he served the German national team and Bayern Munich in an assistant capacity.

Flick’s tactical acumen came into the spotlight during that period, with many rating him highly. So, it was hardly surprising that he replaced Niko Kovac when Bayern Munich sacked the former Croatian international. The 58-year-old made an immediate impact at Bayern Munich, with the club winning the treble in the 2019/20 season.

Such was Flick’s impact at Bayern Munich that the Bavarian giants have not won the DFB Pokal or the UEFA Champions League since that season. But the German tactician surprisingly left Bayern after the 2020/21 season, moving to the international stage. However, he endured a horrific time with the German national team as they bowed out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the group stage before Flick lost his job last year.

Barcelona Calling?

Meanwhile, Hansi Flick remains popular in the managerial market, with Barcelona keen on securing his services. The Blaugrana will lose Xavi Hernandez at the end of the 2023/24 season, with the 44-year-old announcing his resignation last month. The former Bayern Munich boss has  emerged as a top target to replace Xavi.

Recent reports claimed that Deco had already contacted Flick to discuss a possible move. And the 58-year-old former treble-winning manager has handed Barcelona’s hopes a boost as he is open to joining the Catalan club.

Christian Falk has claimed that Hansi Flick is learning Spanish to prepare for the Barcelona job. So, the German tactician might be the first in line to replace Xavi at the Catalan club ahead of the 2024/25 season.
