Tottenham will reportedly hold talks with 57-year-old Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou on Monday to hash out an agreement.

According to a report by Football Insider, Ange Postecoglou might have managed his last game for Celtic. The 57-year-old will discuss a possible deal with Tottenham Hotspur as they look to finalise the managerial appointment. And the Celtic boss is the front-runner to become the North London club’s next head coach.

Ange Postecoglou has spent most of his career out of the spotlight. The Australian tactician represented South Melbourne and Western Suburbs in his playing days. And he has mostly coached clubs in Australia since stepping into the managerial world. Meanwhile, before joining Celtic, his highest-profile job was with the Australian national side between 2013 and 2017.

But the 57-year-old has seen his stock skyrocket since joining Celtic in June 2021. And Postecoglou has delivered back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles at the Scottish club. A popular figure among the Celtic fanbase, he has also helped the Hoops complete the domestic treble this term. And the league-winning manager’s progress has captured the attention of Tottenham Hotspur.

Shambles might be the perfect word to describe Tottenham Hotspur’s current state. The North London club parted ways with Antonio Conte nearly three months ago. But they have not been able to zero in on the perfect successor to the Italian tactician as they look to return to the UEFA Champions League next season.

Interestingly, Conte’s assistant Cristian Stellini briefly replaced his compatriot before a humiliating defeat to Newcastle United spelt doom for him. Ryan Mason then took charge as the caretaker boss but was unable to galvanise the Tottenham squad. And with a little over a month left for the pre-season campaign to begin, the North London giants need to finalise their managerial appointment.

Several names have emerged on Tottenham’s radar, with Postecoglou being one of them. And the 57-year-old has jumped to the top of their wishlist, with Tottenham ready to open talks with him. The report claims that the Premier League heavyweights will initiate discussions with the Celtic boss on Monday.

So with Tottenham ready to approach the former Australian national head coach, it is now or never. The 57-year-old seemed to bid goodbye to Celtic fans this past weekend. And it will be interesting to see if Postecoglou is the man to take over at the helm at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
