Manchester United midfielder has his heart set on a potential return to Juventus amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

According to a report from Il Bianconero, Manchester United are on the verge of losing Paul Pogba in the upcoming summer window. With his current deal expiring at the end of the season, his departure from Old Trafford seems to be a foregone conclusion, with the player now keen on a return to Juventus.

The report suggests Pogba wants to redeem himself after a mixed spell at Manchester United. Since rejoining the club in 2016, the midfielder has featured in over 200 competitive matches, but there has been a lack of consistency in his performances. Persistent injury issues have not helped his cause either.

Pogba’s constant struggles in establishing himself as a genuine success at Manchester United has now compelled him to consider returning to Juventus. His expiring contract makes it easier for the midfielder to seal an exit from Old Trafford, although his hefty €15 million per season salary could be a potential stumbling block for the Bianconeri.

Fresh from the capture of Dusan Vlahovic and Denis Zakaria on deadline day, Juventus are currently dealing with a tricky financial status. Their position becomes even more difficult given the expiring contract of Paulo Dybala. The Serie A giants are keen on extending the Argentine’s deal, which means Pogba may have to settle for a pay cut, should he return to Turin next season.

In addition to the pay cut, Juventus may have to sanction the sale of multiple star players. While Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski notably joined Tottenham on deadline day, Massimiliano Allegri could further offload the likes of Arthur Melo and even Adrien Rabiot in the summer, which could serve as a major financial boost for the club.

However, the Bianconeri are set to face stiff competition from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the pursuit of Pogba. PSG, in particular, were reportedly in talks with the Frenchman over a January swoop, and although a move did not materialise, Les Parisiens remain a favourite to wrap up the midfielder’s services next season.

Manchester United, for their part, are prepared for life without Paul Pogba. In an attempt to replace the Frenchman, the Red Devils are reportedly readying an assault for Declan Rice in the summer, whereas Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips could be a potential alternative.
