Crystal Palace and Everton are reportedly ready to rival Manchester United and Newcastle United in the race to sign Kieran Trippier.

A recent report from 90 min has offered an update on Kieran Trippier’s situation at Atletico Madrid. The Englishman is a top target for clubs like Manchester United and Newcastle United in January, but it appears the two clubs are set to face fresh competition from league rivals Everton and Crystal Palace.

Trippier is believed to be keen on making a return to the Premier League in an attempt to improve his chances of becoming England’s first-choice right-back for next year’s FIFA World Cup. And it seems he has no shortage of suitors as well, with two more clubs hoping to acquire his services in the upcoming January transfer window.

Everton, in particular, are desperate to sign a new right-back next month as coach Rafael Benitez looks to add competition for Seamus Coleman. The Toffees have been linked with a swoop for Max Aarons lately, but in Trippier, they could land themselves a proven Premier League star who can be an asset for the team.

As for Crystal Palace, they are keen on adding more quality to the defensive unit. Their coach Patrick Vieira is already trying to lure Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves, although it is fair to point out that Trippier could be a harder fish to catch.

The same can be said for another interested party in Newcastle United. Although the Magpies are reportedly prepared to offer the Englishman a bumper £150,000 per week contract, their current status in the league table makes them an unappealing destination for the Atletico Madrid star, who could be more drawn to a club like Manchester United.

The Red Devils have been in the market for a right-back for quite a while now, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka struggling to live up to the expectations. And it goes without saying that Kieran Trippier has been Manchester United’s priority target due to his experience in English football and the pedigree at the highest level.

However, the former Tottenham defender is set to cost a fortune given his status as one of England’s finest right-backs. It also remains to be seen whether Atletico Madrid release him in the first place, having struggled due to his absence through injury this season.

Hence, the clubs may have to remain patient and allow Los Colchoneros to secure a proper replacement before they can sanction the sale of Trippier in January.
