Transfer News: West Ham, Newcastle interested in Jonas Wind

West Ham United in advanced talks to sign Ibrahim Osman.

West Ham and Newcastle United have registered interest in Jonas Wind, who is valued in excess of €20 million.

A recent report from Jeunes Footeux has offered an update on Jonas Wind. It appears the FC Copenhagen striker is attracting interest from the Premier League thanks to his impressive performances for both club and country.

Newcastle United and West Ham are the two teams that have registered interest in signing the young Dane, who is unlikely to leave Copenhagen for anything less than €20 million. The player does, after all, have a long-term contract at the club that expires in 2025.

A native of Copenhagen, Wind has enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence in recent years. The striker most notably made an impression in the Superligaen last season, netting 11 goals in 18 appearances. Overall, he has made over 100 competitive appearances for FC Copenhagen, netting 43 goals while providing 24 assists.

The 22-year-old has established himself as a useful national player as well, winning 12 caps and scoring four goals. His all-round qualities in the final third, coupled with his productivity and work ethic have indeed him an exciting attacking prospect.

Such qualities have put West Ham United on red alert, as the club continues its search for a Michail Antonio alternative. Wind is quite a similar player in terms of what they offer to the table and could prove to be an excellent supporting striker for Davies Moyes’ team, which is also keen on the services of Raul de Tomas.

Newcastle United, meanwhile, have identified Wind as an ideal option ahead of a busy summer that might see them emerge as one of the financial powerhouses in European football. The Magpies have already been linked with some high profile individuals in less than a week after being taken over by Saudi backed consortium, including Juventus duo Matthijs de Ligt and Federico Chiesa.

Jonas Wind could be a much more realistic option, though. The Dane will be keen on joining the Premier League in an attempt to further boost his profile and becoming the main striker to a club like Newcastle could be an exciting opportunity for him to prove himself at the highest level of football.
