Manchester United have been reportedly told to splash a transfer fee in excess of £70 million if they are to sign Argentine forward Paulo Dybala from Juventus.

As per a report from the Daily Mail, Manchester United will have to cough up a transfer fee in the region of £70-90 million, if they want to land Juventus and Argentina attacker Paulo Dybala in this summer’s transfer window.

Dybala arrived at Juventus from fellow Serie A side Palermo in 2015 and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the most exciting forwards across Europe. The Argentine international has scored 78 goals and set up 30 more in over 180 matches for the Bianconeri till date, winning the Serie A title in each of his four seasons at the club.

However, the 2018-19 season was an underwhelming one for Dybala, in comparison to his usual standards. Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival from Real Madrid impacted the 25-year-old’s game time, as former manager Massimiliano Allegri struggled to find the best way to utilize the pair together. He finished the season with 10 goals and 5 assists from 42 games.

This had led to speculations regarding Dybala’s future at Juventus, which seemed to have piqued the interest of Manchester United, who are on the lookout for a new addition to their attacking lineup amid uncertainty surrounding the future of star striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian has courted serious interest from Inter Milan and with Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believed to be open to the idea of offloading Lukaku, the 20-time English champions might need a top quality replacement for the former Chelsea and Everton star, with Dybala emerging as a potential target.

To that end, Manchester United were reported to have made contact with Dybala’s camp exploring the possibility of a summer transfer. but were met with a rejection as the 25-year-old is believed to be keen on starting with a clean slate under new manager Maurizio Sarri.

However, as per the latest report from the Daily Mail, Juventus are open to selling the Argentine star this summer, provided Manchester United meet their valuation. The Serie A champions are demanding a transfer fee in the region of £70-£90 million and will not entertain any offers that are below their valuation of Dybala.

The report adds that Manchester United boss Solskjaer is a huge admirer of Dybala and sees him as a key addition to the squad. The Norwegian believes that the Argentine’s ability to unlock defences and contribute with goals could take his team to the next level.

However Dybala has also attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan as well and the fact that both clubs would be able to offer Champions League football might hamper Manchester United’s chances of signing the attacker.

There is no doubt that Dybala’s addition would elevate this United squad to a new level. But, with just over two weeks left for the English transfer window to shut down, it remains to be seen if Manchester United act on their reported interest in Dybala and meet Juventus’ valuation.
