Transfer Rumour: Real Madrid join the race to sign AS Monaco forward Bernardo Silva

Real Madrid have joined Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign AS Monaco forward Bernardo Silva, as per reports.

According to an exclusive by Le10 Sport, Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Bernardo Silva from AS Monaco in the summer. The Portuguese forward has also been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Bernardo Silva has been one of the most fundamental components in the AS Monaco juggernaut that has taken French football by storm this season. The Ligue 1 leaders are currently the most prolific team in all of Europe, having scored 82 goals in just 28 league games so far.

That’s almost three goals scored per game, and Silva has been the orchestrator in attack for Leonardo Jardim’s side, rotating the ball quickly while showcasing his superb technical skills and close control. And he has netted nine goals while providing eight assists in 41 games in all competitions for Monaco.

Still only 22, Silva is one of the brightest prospects in Europe and is being touted for a flourishing career. Surely enough, some of the best clubs have started circling around the player as well, with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea all heavily linked with him.

Barcelona were one of the first clubs to register an interest in Silva. The Portugal international is being eyed as a long-term addition in Barcelona’s three-man midfield, with his versatility also making him an able deputy for the star trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

Chelsea, like Monaco, have also surprised many this season with Antonio Conte’s side running away with the Premier League title. However, despite all the successes, the Chelsea boss is eyeing a top class addition for attack next season, and Silva represents a viable option in that department.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are set to undergo the second phase of their squad overhaul under Jose Mourinho in the summer and the Red Devils are keeping an eye on several players, including Silva who is certainly one of the most exciting options available to his compatriot.

However, Real Madrid have now entered the mix to sign Silva, and the report states that the player himself would be interested in a possible move to the Bernabeu. With the futures of James Rodriguez and Isco up in the air, a place could well open up in the summer, and Silva could make himself a viable option for several positions.

It is important to note, though, that Manchester United are still believed to be in the driver’s seat, as they have an option in place to sign Silva. But with Real Madrid entering the fray for the 22-year-old, it will be interesting to see how things develop come June.
