Liverpool are reportedly interested in bringing Barcelona ace Arda Turan to the Premier League as Klopp seeks to bolster squad depth to aid title challenge.

Italian publication Corriere Dello Sport have claimed that Liverpool are exploring the possibility of securing a transfer for Barcelona ace Arda Turan. The Turkish attacker has been on the radar of Premier League clubs in the previous transfer window and the Reds have now shown their interest in bringing the player over from La Liga.

Arda Turan has had a mixed career so far at Barcelona. The player was first unavailable for selection after the transfer due to some regulations, which saw the player featuring in only 18 La Liga matches in his debut season with a less than desirable return of 2 goals and 3 assists.

The 29-year-old was reportedly not a part of Luis Enrique’s first-team plans ahead of the current campaign but unavailability of Neymar and Messi at different times catapulted the Turk to the starting lineup and the attacker has responded well in the selective minutes provided by Luis Enrique.

Turan has already matched his league tally in both goals and assists from last season and his impressive displays forced Luis Enrique to hand the player a more integral role with the 29-year-old featuring in 572 of a possible 990 minutes of the Catalan giants’ La Liga campaign.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are flying high and are in menacing form with the Reds faithfuls hopeful of breaking the Premier League drought this season. Jurgen Klopp has marshalled his troops well but the German is well aware that the squad depth is thin, something which could end up being a decisive factor come May.

The Reds manager has, thus, shortlisted a few potential additions to the squad in the January transfer window to bolster the squad depth and Arda Turan is one of the very first names on Klopp’s mind.

The other name mentioned in the report is that of PSV attacker Luciano Narsingh, who could serve as a backup option in case Liverpool are unable to secure a move for Turan.

Arda Turan was heavily linked with Arsenal during the summer transfer window when his Barcelona future was supposedly up in the air. The Turkish ace, though, seems to have settled down into Luis Enrique’s first-team plans quite well as the season has gone on.

Turan seems happy to stay at Barcelona for the moment but Barcelona may decide to cash in at the opportunity and free up minutes for the new signings.

Klopp, though, has made logical investments but has not shied away from spending big on players he actually wants on the Liverpool roster with the club going big on Wijnaldum and Mane.

Whether or not Turan actually ends up at Liverpool is likely to mostly depend on Barcelona’s wish of parting with the player or otherwise.
