Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale set to receive new contracts at Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are set to receive contracts that will keep them at Real Madrid for another five years, according to reports in Spain.

Ronaldo’s current deal with Real Madrid keeps him at the club till 2018. Although the 2016 European Championship winner is currently on vacation, he is said to have spoken to the club’s officials about extending his contract till 2020 or 2021.

According to a report in Spanish newspaper AS, Real Madrid are unlikely to offer Ronaldo a raise in this new deal. The Portuguese forward currently earns around €21 million per year from his contract with Los Blancos.

Ronaldo’s future at Real Madrid has been subject to a lot of speculation this summer, especially due to the fact that he just has two more years left on his deal. The star forward has been heavily linked with a move to PSG. Other reports have suggested that Ronaldo may be set for a spectacular return to Manchester United.

However, the 31-year-old confirmed earlier this year that he intends to stay at Real Madrid and is looking forward to signing a new deal with the club. He said, “I spoke to the president [Florentino Perez] on the phone and when I get back to Madrid, we’ll talk [over a new deal]. Obviously it’s something I want.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s fellow star forward Gareth Bale is also set to receive a contract extension that will see the Welshman stay at the Bernabeu for another five years.

Bale’s current contract runs till 2019, but Real Madrid are set to secure his future at the club by extending his contract by another couple of years. While Ronaldo’s wages are set to remain the same, the former Spurs attacker is set for a pay raise; Los Blancos are set to increase his wages from €9 million to €10 million per year, according to the AS report.
