Darwin Nunez makes his first Liverpool start and Nat Phillips replaces Joel Matip while Harvey Elliott comes into midfield.

Jurgen Klopp has named a strong lineup for Liverpool’s first home game of the 2022/23 Premier League season. There are some expected changes but a surprising one as well, with Nat Phillips starting in central defence, replacing the injured Joel Matip.

Darwin Nunez makes his home debut with a place in the starting lineup, while Harvey Elliott replaces the injured Thiago Alcantara in midfield. Allison starts in goal, with a back four in front of him. Trent Alexander-Arnold starts at right-back and is partnered by surprise starter Phillips in central defence alongside Virgil van Dijk, with Andrew Robertson at left-back.

James Milner is preferred to Jordan Henderson in central midfield, with Fabinho and Elliott alongside the veteran. The Liverpool captain finds himself on the bench.

Mohamed Salah retains his spot on the right-hand side of the Liverpool attack against Crystal Palace, while Nunez gets to make his full debut in front of the Anfield crowd. Luis Diaz is selected on the left-hand side. Roberto Firmino misses out from the squad as a precaution.

Liverpool Starting Lineup: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Van Dijk, Robertson, Elliott, Fabinho, Milner, Salah, Nunez, Diaz.
