Southampton came into the second-leg match at Anfield with a slender 1-0 lead and they have managed to hold on to secure a place in the finals of the EFL Cup.

Southampton’s aggregate lead was doubled as the Saints won the Anfield tie thanks to a late but brilliant counter-attacking goal, one which Shane Long finished calmly.
