We take a look at few of the midfielders that will be key to their club’s fortunes in the latest gameweek of the Premier League during the weekend.

We attempt to fuse an FPL Scout-style format with Key Players to watch with this series. Bear in mind that the definition of midfielders has been taken to be those who are labelled as one as per the official Fantasy Premier League website. Let us now get down to brass tacks.

Paul Pogba – Manchester United

The in-form midfielder in the Premier League right now, Paul Labile Pogba has been unleashed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United are reaping the rewards of it. 8 goals and 5 assists in his last 9 league starts, Pogba has been instrumental to United’s rise from sixth to fourth.

Facing Liverpool on Sunday, Solskjaer will be hoping for a similar showing from Pogba, who will be aware of the magnitude of the game, as far as the fans and club heritage is concerned.

One of the main reasons Tottenham are third and perhaps, still considered an outsider in the title race is the form of Son Heung-min. The South Korean was the main catalyst in Spurs’ winning run during Harry Kane’s injury and has generally been a clutch player for the club all season.

Son has 9 goals and 4 assists in his last 10 league appearances and has scored in Spurs’ last five wins. Facing a Burnley side that have knit together a brilliant run of sorts at the lower end of the table to get out of the relegation zone, Tottenham would be looking towards Son to provide more of the same.

Felipe Anderson – West Ham United

The Hammers have slowed down a lot recently, with no wins in their last four games, after a brilliant 1-0 win over Arsenal. West Ham have been unable to make much on the attacking front, with just 2 goals in the aforementioned four games combined, which means there has been a downturn in attacking productivity.

Felipe Anderson’s form was one of the driving forces, along with Marko Arnautovic, in West Ham’s charge from near the relegation zone to the top half of the table. He has been quiet recently but will need to step up. Up against the struggling Fulham, this just might be the fixture to get back to form.

Roberto Pereyra – Watford

Another player who was been quiet after a blitz of a start to the Premier League campaign, but perhaps more so in comparison, Roberto Pereyra hasn’t had much to do, thanks to his teammates taking turns to come to form. But, Pereyra must start justifying his starts real soon, lest he risks being benched.

Watford are up against an in-form Cardiff City side and will need all the help they can get.

Ryan Fraser – Bournemouth

No assists in the last five league games for Ryan Fraser, the Scotland international would love to resume his direct contributions on Saturday as Bournemouth go up against an equally dangerous Wolves side. Eddie Howe has shown incredible faith in Fraser, who has been good even when not contributing in terms of goals or assists.
