Chelsea will reportedly pursue Michael Olise, a target for Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, irrespective of the next managerial appointment.
According to a report by Daily Mirror, Michael Olise is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are ready to launch the offensive to sign the Crystal Palace playmaker, irrespective of their next managerial appointment. Meanwhile, the French youth international is also a target for Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
Michael Olise and his journey so far
Michael Olise has become a hot property in the market in the last few years. A native of London, the 22-year-old spent his formative years with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City before graduating from the youth division at Reading. He rose in prominence at Reading before Crystal Palace came calling in July 2021.
Since then, Olise has come leaps and bounds, establishing himself as a pivotal figure for Crystal Palace. The youngster enjoyed an exceptional 2023/24 campaign despite struggling with a few fitness issues, amassing ten goals and six assists in 19 Premier League appearances. Meanwhile, his exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.
A man in demand
Arsenal’s interest in Olise stems from Mikel Arteta’s desire to add more quality to his offensive department. The versatile Crystal Palace attacker is thus a viable target, considering he can play centrally and on the right flank. As for Chelsea, they are ready to launch the offensive to sign the young playmaker irrespective of their next managerial appointment.
The Blues are scouring the market for a manager after parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino this week. However, the identity and tactical profile of Chelsea’s next manager do not matter to the club. Crystal Palace’s asking price of £60 million for Michael Olise is not a hindrance either.
However, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United will aim to put a spanner in the works for Chelsea. The Reds are in a spot of bother over Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz’s long-term futures. On the other hand, the right-wing berth has been the achilles heel for Manchester United, and Olise can become a long-term solution.
The price tag of £60 million should not be an issue for any of Michael Olise’s suitors. So, it will be interesting to see where the 22-year-old plies his trade, although Crystal Palace will hope to convince him to remain at Selhurst Park for another season.
