Tottenham dealt blow in their pursuit of Johan Bakayoko

Tottenham Hotspur have received a major blow in their pursuit of 20-year-old PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.

According to a report by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur might not be able to acquire the services of Johan Bakayoko in the upcoming transfer window. Spurs are looking to bolster their attack and they are keen on having the 20-year-old in their ranks. But, they might not be able to fulfil their desire in the near future.

Bakayoko has come up the ranks at PSV Eindhoven. He made it to their first team in the summer of 2022 and has gone from strength to strength since. He has established himself as one of the mainstays of the team.

In his 60 senior appearances, the 20-year-old has contributed towards 28 goals. In the ongoing campaign, he has 17 goal contributions in his 24 appearances. His incredible form hasn’t gone unnoticed. Spurs are one of the clubs who are looking to acquire his services in the near future.

The London club are looking to reinforce their attack in the winter transfer window. Their manager Ange Postecoglou wants more depth in attack. Recent injuries to Richarlison and Manor Solomon have made things difficult for them and they are looking to add a new winger.

Bakayoko is one of their targets and they have been monitoring him for a while now. Spurs are all set to push for his services but they might not be able to strike a deal with PSV. The Dutch club have no intentions of selling him in mid-season.

He is key to their plans going ahead in the second half of the season and only a crazy offer could take him away from PSV. The 20-year-old has a contract with the Dutch club until the summer of 2026 and he seems committed to them.

There was interest in his services back in the summer but the player decided to continue in the Netherlands. And, he is expected to continue at the club until the end of the season. Brentford were the ones who made the move back then and they still remain interested in his services. Meanwhile, there are other clubs who are also keen on signing the Belgian winger.
