Barcelona formulating offer to sign Bernardo Silva

Barcelona will reportedly look to offer a package worth €75 million to sign 28-year-old treble winner Bernardo Silva from Manchester City.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Bernardo Silva remains the subject of interest from Barcelona. And the Catalan giants are ready to offer a package worth €75 million to sign the 28-year-old. The Blaugrana will propose a base fee of €65 million while adding €10 million in add-ons.

Bernardo Silva has established himself as one of the best creative midfielders in the world in the last half a dozen years. The Portuguese international rose to prominence during his stint with AS Monaco, helping the principality club win the Ligue 1 title in 2016/17. And he has gone from strength to strength since joining Manchester City in 2017.

The 28-year-old has been a trusted lieutenant for Pep Guardiola, producing many game-changing performances. Silva has made over 300 appearances while chipping in with 55 goals and 59 assists. But his long-term future at Manchester City is uncertain following the club’s treble-winning season. And Barcelona will look to prise him away from the Etihad this summer.

Silva has been on Barcelona’s radar for a long time. The Catalan giants have been monitoring him since his days at AS Monaco. But they have seriously pursued his signature in the last two summer transfer windows. But a move has never materialised, with Manchester City’s asking price being beyond Barcelona’s budget.

The same might be the case this summer, with the treble winners demanding a hefty sum to part ways with Silva. But the 28-year-old remains a target for Barcelona in the ongoing transfer window. And recent reports have claimed that the Blaugrana will prioritise signing him this summer.

The latest update has revealed that Barcelona will present a package worth €75 million to Manchester City. The proposal will include a base fee of €65 million and add-ons worth €10 million. But Manchester City might not accept such a bid to part ways with the 28-year-old playmaker.

The update by SPORT comes in the wake of intriguing comments by Pep Guardiola. The Manchester City boss has suggested that the Premier League champions are ready to offload players who do not want to play for them. And it will be interesting to see if a Barcelona move sees the light of day for Silva.
