Manchester United will soon table a bid worth £50 million to sign English playmaker Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer.
According to talkSPORT, Mason Mount remains a top target for Manchester United heading into the summer transfer window. And the Red Devils are preparing a new bid to sign the Chelsea playmaker. The latest offer will be worth over £50 million after the Blues rejected a proposal of £40 million.
Mason Mount has established himself as one of the best playmakers in the Premier League since his breakthrough 2019/20 season at Chelsea. And while he had a miserable 2022/23 campaign, he remains highly rated among high-profile clubs. That is because he has projected a high ceiling before the recently-concluded term.
The 24-year-old managed a paltry tally of three goals and six assists in 35 appearances across all competitions this past season. And Mount faces an uncertain future at Chelsea ahead of a crucial summer transfer window for the West London club. Manchester United will look to prise him away from Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Mount has been on Manchester United’s radar since it emerged he might not sign a new contract with Chelsea. The Blues have been attempting to tie the English international to a long-term deal. But with an agreement nowhere in sight, Chelsea might have no option but to cash in on him.

Personal terms will not be an issue, with Mount keen on joining Manchester United. But Chelsea’s asking price is posing a problem for Manchester United. And the Red Devils failed with their opening bid to sign the 24-year-old, with £40 million nowhere close to the West London club’s valuation.
But the Red Devils are not throwing in the towel and have prepared a second bid to sign Mount. And Manchester United will present an offer worth over £50 million to prise him away from Chelsea. But it is unclear if the West London club will accept £50 million either.
Widespread reports have suggested a much higher price tag. And unless the Red Devils propose an attractive bid, a summer deal might not be on the cards. It might even be sensible for Manchester United to put off a move for Mount until 2024, hoping to secure his services in a Bosman move.
