La Liga champions Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on 16-year-old Belgian attacking sensation Julien Duranville.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Julien Duranville has popped up on the radar of Real Madrid. The 16-year-old Anderlecht attacking sensation is one of several teenage prodigies the reigning La Liga champions are keeping tabs on currently.
Julien Duranville is among the brightest prospects in Belgium, giving the country hope that there will be life after the “Golden Generation”. The teenage wonderkid has been with Anderlecht since 2013, when he joined their academy as a seven-year-old. And after rapidly rising through the ranks, he made his first-team debut towards the end of last season.
The 16-year-old has made massive strides at Anderlecht this season, making ten appearances for the first team. Four of the outings have come in Europe, and his exploits have not gone unnoticed. Several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, have been closely monitoring Duranville lately.
The reigning La Liga champions are renowned for constantly looking for the brightest young prospects across the globe. Such an outlook has meant that the Real Madrid managers rarely struggle to transition from one generation to another. Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde, and Rodrygo Goes are some of the success stories for Real Madrid.
The Merengues remain in the market for several prodigious talents, with Endrick being on top of their list. But the highly sought-after Brazilian whizkid is not the only prodigy on Real Madrid’s radar, with Julien Duranville, Simone Pafundi, and Matheus Nascimento also emerging as targets.
Unlike in Endrick’s case, Real Madrid will not have to wait until Duranville turns 18 to secure his services. And Los Blancos can probably sign the 16-year-old Belgian attacking sensation before loaning him out for a few years to continue his development. With Rodrygo featuring regularly, Duranville might not start many games.
For now, the Spanish champions are simply keeping tabs on the 16-year-old’s progress at Anderlecht. It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid will firm up the interest and approach the Belgian giants with an offer for Duranville next year.
