Manchester United are interested in signing West Ham United forward Diafra Sakho, according to Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old came up through the ranks at Metz before signing for West Ham United last summer. Sakho scored 12 goals in 26 appearances for the London based club, as he impressed in a season cut short due to injuries. According to Daily Mail, United are now interested in signing the Senegalese international and the newspaper have placed a price tag of A?15 million on the striker.

Louis van Gaal is expected to reshape the squad this summer, in order to put up a title challenge next season. Manchester United are in the market for a new striker in this transfer window. Earlier they passed along the opportunity to permanently sign Radamel Falcao, who has since joined Chelsea.

Robin van Persie is close to completing his move to Turkish club Fenerbahce, while Javier Hernandez is also expected to depart from Old Trafford this summer. United need someone who can support Wayne Rooney and they have been linked to a host of forwards in this transfer window. Initially they were linked with Danny Ings, who has joined Liverpool, while Harry Kane, Alexandre Lacazette and Thomas Muller have all been added to that list.

.

Although Muller isna t a natural center forward, he can play a supporting role, and certainly has the goal scoring knack. Reports suggest that United are proposing a deal of A?60 million to sign the Bayern Munich star. Harry Kane remains another possibility, although he is likely to be overpriced by Tottenham Hotspur.

Sakho produced some good performances last season, when he managed to remain fit that is. But the 25-year-old is a significant step-down in quality compared to the other names linked with Manchester United. The West Ham United forward is likely to be just a back-up target, in case they fail to land anyone else. But when the time comes, West Ham Uniteda s interest in signing Javier Hernandez might be a telling factor in this deal, although the Mexican international did suffer a collarbone injury recently.
