Liverpool To lose Winger? Sterling To Ponder Over Future By Considering Summer Offers

Liverpool have received a body blow as their winger Raheem Sterling will not be signing a contract extension until the summer if the recent reports are to be believed.

Sterling has already rejected lucrative contracts in the last few month and has stated his reason for doing so as non-monetary and purely related to winning silverware. A?100,000-a-week is considered by many 20-year old’s as something that is un-rejectable, but Sterling wants to wait until the summer to see the offers on his table.

Although it’s unclear if other clubs like Bayern Munich or Arsenal will offer so much considering how they manage their wage bills, Sterling could jump the ship to a club that competes for trophies on a regular basis for something substantially lower than what he has been offered at Liverpool.

The former QPR academy graduate has been implored to sign the offered contract (by former players) and stay at Liverpool to raise his game to an even higher level as there haven’t been too many positive transfer stories of late that show a young players moving to a club where he has better chances to win trophies and succeeding there.

Thanks to the level of competition across different leagues, rarely do we get to see top sides like Manchester City or Chelsea or Real Madrid persist with youth. That ultimately means that players with potential, like Jack Rodwell or Lucas Silva or Illaramendi, move to a top club and then find themselves with limited or no game time and consequently take a step down in their career.
