Liverpool re-enter Kovacic Negotiations, make improved A?14 Million bid

Kovacic Inter

Liverpool re-enter negotiations with Inter Milan, over Mateo Kovacic. The Merseyside club view him as a long-term replacement for the departing Steven Gerrard, as Brendan Rodgers looks firmly towards Liverpool’s future.

‘Make them an offer they cant refuse’

Liverpool seem to be taking inspiration from the Italian Mafia to sign a young Croat from Italian giants Inter Milan.

According to DiMarzio Liverpool have re-ignited their interest in Kovacic, as Liverpool continue their busy start to the transfer window.

After sealing moves for Danny Ings, James Milner, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez, and inching closer towards Roberto Firmino, Liverpool have re-entered negotiations to sign . Mateo Kovacic from Inter Milan for an improved bid, believed to be around A?14 Million Pounds.

After staying silent on the issue, Liverpool have centered their efforts to sign the 21 year-old Croatian midfielder from the Italian giants. Inter, though willing to part with their youth product, have placed an A?18 million valuation on the young midfielder.

Despite another underwhelming campaign, Kovacic shined brightest for the Nerazzurri grabbing 5 goals and 3 assists.

Though Mancini seems keen to hold on to the play maker, his purchases of Geoffrey Kongdogbia from Monaco and Gianelli Imbula from Marseille, mean that money needs to flow in from elsewhere. Inter are determined to hold on to Kovacic till Liverpool meets their valuation, which should not be a hurdle for the Merseysiders if push comes to shove.

Kovacic’s capture will be an astute one for Liverpool, as Rodger’s looks to further bolster his side with more diverse options in midfield. Alongside the experienced James Milner, and the mercurial Coutinho and Lallana, a young Kovacic could be just what Liverpool needs at the moment.

Though their dreams of finding a like-for-like replacement for the departing Steven Gerrard, seem to be getting a boost, Rodgers has wisely moved to a system that doesn’t depend of the former English captain.

If Liverpool are to recover from the mediocrity that encompassed their last campaign, they must strike the right balance with their new recruits to avoid a situation that threw the club into disarray after the departure of Luis Suarez.
